This pirate monkey spinner game is a fun way for kids to practice beginning sounds! It’s a great addition to your literacy centers and word work time! This simple, low prep activity is the perfect compliment to our popular Beginning Sounds File Folder Activity and CVC Phonics Mats.
PREPPING THE ACTIVITY
Prepping this activity was super easy! Print the spinner page and letter page on cardstcok. You can laminate these pages or put them in plastic sleeves for extra durability. Print a student recording sheet for each student, grab a paperclip and a pencil, and you’re set. Super quick!
PLAYING THE GAME
This game can be played individually, in pairs, or in groups, making it great for both quick practice or center work! To play the game, use a paperclip and a pencil to spin a picture (brads also work instead of pencils). Find the same picture on the letter page.
Choose a letter in that column. On the student recording sheet, write a word that begins with that sound. My kiddos like to cover the letters that they’ve already done with mini erasers 🙂
