Add some fun to your literacy centers and word work time with this outdoor learning activity! This is a super fun way to practice sight words while enjoying the fresh air outside.
PREPPING THE ACTIVITY
Prepping this activity is super quick and easy. All you need is some chalk and a spray bottle filled with water. Write the sight words (or any words that your kids are working on) on the ground.
PLAYING SPRAY A SIGHT WORD
You can either call out the words, or the students can pair up and take turns calling out the words. One at a time, someone says a word, and the person with the spray bottle finds the word and sprays it.
For students who are just starting to learn sight words, begin with only 3 or 4 words. As they master those words, add a few more each time. To assess students who should have most of their words mastered, begin with more words.
Looking for more ways to give your kids fun sight word practice? Our Sight Words Activity Packet has 2 pages of hands on and interactive practice for each of the first 100 Fry Words. And it requires no prep! Just grab some supplies, and your kids will be mastering their sight words while having a blast! Doesn’t get much better than that 😉
