Add some fun to your fall reading lessons with this pumpkin CVC board game! This is a great phonics activity for literacy centers, word work time, and review. It’s also a great addition to our popular CVC Activity Packet and CVC Phonics Mats!
PREPPING THE ACTIVITY
Prepping this activity was super quick and easy. Just print the board game on cardstock, and print a recording sheet for each student. You can also laminate the board game for extra durability. Grab some pencils, dice, and something to use as pawns, and you’re set!
PLAYING THE GAME
Students can play this game individually, in pairs, or in groups.
Middle Sister (Kindergarten) rolled first and got a 3. She moved her pawn three spaces and landed on “lip.” Making the sound of each letter, she said, “l-i-p…lip!”
After reading the word, Middle Sister wrote the word on the “Pumpkin CVC Words” page.
Next it was Big Sister’s turn! She’s in second grade, but she’s a good sport and plays with Middle Sister 🙂 The kids went back and forth until they both finished the game.
